The Arm of Hope 5k is coming up soon on Saturday, May 18! The race is a tool the ministry uses to raise funds needed to pay for the camp we are holding in Ghana for two weeks in July/August. Sponsorship funds helps to pay for camp, and team members help to pay for camp, but the cost goes beyond that!
Many of our campers do not have sponsors with Arm of Hope, but we still want them to be able to come and enjoy the blessings and privileges of camp. To make this possible and cover the $50 cost per child, Arm of Hope holds several fundraisers a year so kids living in the slum in Ghana can enjoy camp. This year we are expecting close to 500 campers!

Runners and walkers can enjoy a flat, family-friendly 5K, pick up a microfiber t-shirt, and win prizes while raising money for a good cause. The sixth annual Arm of Hope 5K will start at 9 a.m. from Hope Community Church, 1806 Harrisburg Avenue, Mount Joy, on Saturday, May 18. Register at hopechurchonline.org/5k by April 29 to receive a t-shirt. There are awards for men and women in 5-year age groups beginning with ages 5 to 9, and randomly-drawn prizes will be awarded. Overall men’s and women’s winners receive trophies that were hand-carved in Ghana.
Registration for the race is $30. Proceeds will help bring street children to a summer camp at the Arm of Hope ministry center in Ghana for fun, education, and Bible lessons. http://www.armofhopeinghana.org/
A team of volunteers from Hope Community Church will be assisting at the summer camp conducted in conjunction with Arm of Hope, a Ghanaian-run ministry that operates Bible clubs and provides education for children living in the streets and slums of Ghana.
Participants will be given the option to obtain sponsors to raise more funds so more street children in Ghana can attend summer camp. Thank-you gifts for raising funds include Hersheypark tickets, hooded sweatshirts, and stainless-steel tumblers. The church is seeking business sponsors. The sponsoring company’s logo can be printed on the race shirt.
