I am very excited to introduce to you the 2017 Ghana camp team! We are pretty thrilled about the fact that God has brought us together with our different backgrounds, talents, gifts, and experiences to work with our missionary partners in Ghana this summer.
Tim and Sherrie Ainsley…God has given them a real heart for children at risk. Sherrie’s gifts of compassion and her love for people blend perfectly with Tim’s passion for teaching the truth of God’s Word. Sherrie will also use her attention to detail to purchase the many supplies needed for this year’s camp.
Dennis Bartch…Dennis was on our team 2 years ago and really looks forward to going back and renewing his relationships in Ghana. Dennis will be using his gift of teaching to give the campers hands-on illustrations about the lesson each day.
Rachel Bennage…She is joining our team for the second year in a row. Her gift of friendship to all and her kind heart make her the perfect mentor and role model for children in Ghana. Rachel will be helping to organize crafts in Ghana each day and has also volunteered to plan the Sunday School lesson for the children on Sunday.
Kaitlyn Black…Kaitlyn is headed to Ghana for the first time this year. Kaitlyn feels God calling her to serve children both at home and at other places in the world. She loves singing and leading worship and looks forward to planning the worship for the camp this year.
Maddie Conley…This is Maddie’s first year in Ghana. She has heard about Ghana from friends who have been part of the team in the past but is excited to experience the camp for herself this year. Maddie’s gift of writing will be used in the plans of this year’s camp. Her gift of relating to others will be a real asset as she leads a team of girls in Ghana.
Greg, Denise, and Colton Grove…The Groves are headed back to Ghana this year and are looking forward to continuing to build relationships with their friends there! Coach Greg will help with the soccer tournament, and he and Dee will also team teach. Dee will use her gift of compassion in the first-aid clinic. Colton looks forward to leading and mentoring a team of young boys again this year.
Brenda Martin…Brenda was at our first year of camp in 2014 and is now headed back. Brenda has a heart for missions and the things God is doing around the world. Brenda’s skills are very much appreciated as she handles the team finances, plane tickets, insurance, and other such logistics. Brenda will also be helping to provide leadership to the team.
Devan Turner…Devan has been at camp every year so far! God has grown his heart and passion to serve the children in Ghana and continue in relationship with them. Devan enjoys helping with the teaching and being a small group leader and mentor to the smallest little ones at camp.
Mike, Cheryl, and Caden Zimmerman…We continue to desire to partner with our missionary friends in Ghana and be a resource and encouragement to them in any way that we can. Mike will be the “Star Master” as usual – listening to verses and providing incentives to the teams as they compete for the prize at the end of the week. Cheryl will continue to give leadership to the team and camp. Caden looks forward to returning to camp for the second time, and now that he is a little bit older, he wants to be a team leader and mentor to the younger children at camp. As a family we continue to invest in Ghana, because God has asked us to do it! It is our joy to serve our friends there.
This week has been exciting for our team, because we have secured our tickets! That makes it official! Look out, Ghana. We are taking to the air to meet you on July 28!
Please pray for our Ghana team!
*Pray that God will bring us together selflessly to serve Him in unity.
*Pray that God will help us to plan teaching, crafts, songs, stories, and activities that point to Jesus.
*Pray for financial provision for travel and for camp expenses.
*Pray for our missionary partners in Ghana who serve tirelessly day in and day out.
*Pray for our campers whose lives in the slums are very difficult. Pray that God will provide so that many of them can enjoy camp and be introduced to or grow in their relationships with Jesus.
